Abstract | Deprotonation of polycarboxylic acids induces the self-assembly of terpyridyl-platinum(II) complexes (see picture) and triggers remarkable changes in the UV/Vis spectra and emission intensities. The changes in the electronic spectra arise from metal-metal-to-ligand charge transfer transitions resulting from the aggregation of the complexes. |
