AbstractThe synthesis and reactivity of phosphine-cobalt boryls, were investigated. The reactivity studies have shown that alkyne diboration takes place and borylation of aryl bromides is possible with low selectivity. Boryl transfer was investigated initially by carrying out reactions between equimolar amounts of B2(cat)2, [Co (PMe3)4] and a 4-substituted aryl bromide in THF at room temperature. The results show that paramagnetic Co (II) bisboryls can be formed from Co (0) precursors and diborane (4) compounds.
