AbstractReaction of [Pt(dppy)2Cl2] with NaSH in the presence of triethylamine in MeCN produces a luminescent dimeric [Pt2(μ-S) 2(dppy)4] complex 1 which is characterized by X-ray crystallography; its unusual reactivity with CH2Cl2 to give novel monomeric [Pt(dppy)2(S2CH2)] 2, identified by both NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography, is described (dppy=2-diphenylphosphinopyridine).
