Abstract

This book offers a review of the control of veins. The following subjects are discussed: morphology and physiology of venous smooth muscle, pharmacology of venous smooth muscle, the adrenergic nerve ending, the neuro effector interaction, local control of venous reactivity, neural control of vascular capacity, cardiovascular reflexes, physical characteristics, methods for the study of the venous system in man, venomotor responses in normal man, veins in clinical conditions and the effect of therapeutic agents on veins. The book contains a large number of illustrations and graphs.
