AbstractThe optical properties of Al xGa 1-xAs are modeled in the 1.5-6 eV range for all alloy compositions, 0≤x≤1. An extension of Adachi's model which employs the adjustable broadening function is used for greater flexibility of the model and excessive absorption resulting from the large wings of the Lorentzian line shape is eliminated. The significance of employing the experimental data for all alloy compositions simultaneously when estimating the model parameters is discussed.
