Abstract | The contents of total flavonoids and condensed tannins in the ethanol extract of Spatholobus suberectus Dunn and its different solvents partitioned extracts were determined by ultraviolet spectrophotometry and Vanillin-H 2SO 4 method, respectively. The contents of total flavonoids in the φ=60% ethanol extract, ethyl acetate insoluble extract, ethyl acetate partitioned extract, n-butanol partitioned extract, water residue were (6.49±1.99)%, (7.36±0.13)%, (9.35±0.22)%, (8.41±0.27)%, (4.48±1.53)%, respectively, while their contents of condensed tannins were (51.09±0.37)%, (52.34±4.73)%, (73.22±2.72)%, (83.11±5.87)%, (29.74±2.12)%, respectively. The inhibitory activities on the proliferation of HT-29 and MCF-7 tumor cells were determined by MTT. The extract samples all showed inhibitory activities in different extent on the proliferation of HT-29 and MCF-7 tumor cells. The n-butanol partitioned extract had the strongest inhibitory activities on the proliferation of both tumor cells. |
