Combining systems theory and traditional Chinese medicine to understand modern economics

Abstract

A social economy, like the human body, is an organic entity. This study uses the methods and theories of traditional Chinese medicine to understand modern economics. Specifically, it uses the theory of the five elements, the yin-yang theory, and the theory of qi to interpret circulation and changes in the social economy, to understand the operation of “the invisible hand” of the market, and to identify the intrinsic causes of economic malfunctions.
