AbstractThis research considers a scheduling problem in a divergent production system (DPS). Through a real-life DPS problem in an aluminum manufacturing company, this paper addresses two important challenges. One is multiple process routes. The other is limited inventory space. A particle swarm optimization based approach is proposed to solve the problem. The computational results show that the proposed solution is appropriate and advantageous for the DPS problem in the collaborating company.
