AbstractBackground: Dental treatment received by pre-school children with caries in Hong Kong is sub-optimal. Considerable variation in their care also exists among dental practitioners. Guideline for caries prevention and management for pre-school children would assist decision making in clinical practice to produce optimal, evidence- based and equitable patient care. ADAPTE process is a systematic approach for adapting guidelines produced in one setting to be used in a different cultural context. It reduces substantial time, expertise and resources for guideline development.
