AbstractIn this article we review some of the advances made in Vanadium microalloying technology for flat products published over the past 10 years and discuss their application to Advanced High Strength Steels (AHSS) for the automotive sector. The potential benefits to a range of steel grades including Dual Phase (DP), fully bainitic, TRansformation Induced Plasticity (TRIP) and TWinning Induced Plasticity (TWIP) are discussed and examples are given. Areas of ongoing research which merit support from AHSS producers are identified.
