AbstractPsychiatric patients' compliance with community treatment is an important index for evaluating community mental health services. Families, attitudes to, and recognition of, the disease affects patients, treatment compliance. In order to improve the mental health service and identify factors affecting patients' treatment compliance, we used a Psychoeducational Family Intervention and researched schizophrenic patients, compliance with drug treatment in a rural Chinese community over a six month period. Psychoeducational Family Intervention significantly improved schizophrenic patients' compliance with medication. The patients' compliance with drug treatment was increased from 5.7% before intervention to 37.1% after intervention.
