AbstractOBJECTIVE: In general, silane-based resin composites cannot achieve an efficient and satisfactory direct resin-zirconia bonding. Due to the chemical nature of zirconate that has the direct bonding ability with zirconia, thus zirconate was used in this study instead of silane as coupling agent and incorporated in experimental resin composite. It was hypothesized that zirconate could give a better mechanical performance in direct resin-zirconia bonding. METHOD: Various ratios (0.0 – 4.0wt.%) of zirconate coupling agent (NZ-33, Kendrich Petrochemical, USA) were incorporated in an experimental bis-GMA/MMA-based resin composites.
