AbstractThe article focuses on a case of radiation-induced petrous internal carotid artery (ICA) aneurysm in a patient treated with radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC). The approach to manage this type of aneurysm is also discussed. A 53-year-old man was treated with radiotherapy in 1989 for NPC. He remained well for a long time but in year 2000 regular acute onset bleeding started from his left ear. After one year the bleeding started again and on examination, a lesion with uncertain nature was identified by Wai Yip, Stephen Lau and Chun Kuen Chow. The discussion depicts that the primary treatment for NPC is radiotherapy on the petrous segment of the ICA inside the temporal bone.
