Abstract | William Sanday's proposal concerning the doctrine of the incarnation was widely criticized after it was published. Nevertheless, in recent decades a number of scholars have defended psychological models of the incarnation which are similar to his. However, they have not discussed the problems highlighted by Sanday's critics. I evaluate these problems and argue that they are not as insurmountable as Sanday's critics thought them to be, as his model can be modified to deal with them adequately. I conclude that further work along Sanday's line of thought is to be welcomed. © 2012 The Author. |
