Abstract | The UK Schmidt Telescope and its new Halpha interference filter are being used to obtain sets of exposures of 5 deg fields in the Magellanic Clouds. Each set is on a single field centre and consists of ten 2 hr exposures on TechPan film. Pixel maps of these will be obtained using the SuperCOSMOS machine in Edinburgh and coadded to produce deep images that cover a wide 5 deg field of view and take advantage of the high resolution of the TechPan emulsion. This paper presents some of the first results from the set that is being assembled for the central parts of the LMC. |
