AbstractUpon switching the counter-ion to a highly lipophilic anion, a series of phosphorescent cationic organoplatinum(II) salts are rendered soluble in non-polar solvents and can further self-organize into lamellar nanostructures, breath-figure arrays and smectic mesophases.
