AbstractOld Jinghua railway station is one well-preserved part of Hangjiang Line. It needs to be preserved for the following reasons. Firstly is the history factor that it is the first railway station that designed and built by Chinese in south of china. What is more, Jinghua railway station make great contribution during the anti Japanese war. Secondly, the location of this site is very unique. It is located in the central of Jinghua city and near the connection point of Wu river, wuyi river and Yiwu river. Thirdly, this railway is the most important history heritage to Jinghua city. The last factor is the most important that this railway reflect the identity of site. If one city lost its identity, it also lost its spirit. Based on these four factors, the old Jinghua railway station should be preserved and service the city as a role of railway park. There are two Strategies to preserve the identity of the site. One strategy is to preserve the objects that we can see or reuse some materials that recycled. In this strategy, the old objects such as station main building, railway, platform, the words on platform, loudspeaker, water tower, light tower, concrete structure, signal lights has been preserved and given new functions. What is more, the material such as bricks, steel, woods will be reused. The second strategy is to preserve or reappear the things or scene that we can feel. This strategy including four factors. The first factor is about people's behaviour and their lifestyle. The second factor is to reappear the similar space, especially the vitality of the street. The third factor is to preserve the relationship of a series of space order. The last factor is to preserve some deja vu experiences and some instant memories.
