Modernization of urban cemetery

Abstract

China, the most populous country in the world, has successfully controlled its total population after 33 years “one child policy”. However, it now has to face the inevitable growing death population as a sequence of horrendous birth rate 50 years ago. The more death population, the more demands of cemetery. The situation that more and more population moving from rural place to urban make things worse in big cities. Under the rapid urbanization process in China, urban space only considers the economic growth and convenience of the livings but forgets to make room for the dead. What’s more, the rapid urbanization process has made less and less land suitable to build cemetery. The pressure on cemetery has to be taken into consideration in advance instead of becoming an afterthought.
