Abstract | Results of an investigation into the fungi associated with submerged wood and bamboo in the Plover Cove Reservoir, Hong Kong, are reported. Fifty-seven fungi were identified, including 17 ascomycetes and 40 mitosporic fungi. The frequency of occurrence of these fungi was also investigated. The most common species was Kirchsteiniothelia elasterascus, occurring on 70% of samples, followed by Didymella aptrooti (14%) and an unidentified coelomycete (12%). These species are compared with common species found in other studies. Eight hyphomycetes are new species, and they are described and illustrated - three Dactylaria, two Ellisembia, two Monodictys, and one Dictyochaeta species. |
