Abstract | BACKGROUND: Trichomonascus (Candida) ciferrii is an emerging opportunistic yeast pathogen that has been increasingly recognised in human infections. T. ciferrii has previously been implicated as the cause of tinea pedis, tinea cruris, onchychomycosis, and less commonly, fungaemia.
