Abstract | In response to population aging in Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Council of Social Services (HKCSS) took up a leading role in promoting age-friendly Hong Kong since 2008. This chapter starts from an overview of HKCSS’s innovative strategies regarding promoting age-friendly Hong Kong. Then, a qualitative study using focus group discussion on eight domains of age-friendly features is described. Key stakeholders were invited to discuss their views of what has been achieved and what can be done better in each of the age-friendly domains. Content analyses revealed themes on common concerns and suggestions. At last, the authors discuss age-friendly conceptualization in a Chinese context and make four recommendations for future direction of the age-friendly movement in Hong Kong. |
