AbstractInteraction of vortex rings moving in the same direction along a common axis is investigated using an inviscid model based on velocity induction and incompressibility. The results show that the initial separation is an important factor affecting the interaction while circulation has no effect on the loci of the vortical elements on the rings for constant Ci/Ri. The results explain the observed different types of vortex ring interactions in circular jet.
