AbstractThis presentation will examine some of the important measurement issues associated with assessing body composition in athletes, including how and why variations occur. The talk will focus on anthropometric measures (skinfolds); bioelectric impedance analysis (BIA); and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) methods. The benefits/limitations, plus examples of errors and variations of these 3 types of measurements will be presented.
