Abstract | Objectives: To evaluate the effects of power, irradiation time and water content of Er,Cr:YSGG laser on topographic changes of zirconia surfaces.
Methods: Sintered zirconia specimens were polished, cleaned and randomly assigned into 12 groups. Each group (n=3) was subjected to laser irradiation under various power settings (3W, 4W), irradiation times (30s, 60s, 120s) and water spray (50%, 75%). The surfaces were observed by a scanning election microscope (SEM) and atomic force microscope (AFM) and compared with non-irradiated specimens.
Results: Comparing with the control group, observable topographic changes were found only in 2 groups, i.e., 3W, 120s, 50% & 4W, 60s, 75%.
Conclusions: Er,Cr:YSGG laser parameters including power, irradiation time and water could affect the surface topography of sintered zirconia. |
