AbstractTunnel support design has been one of the complicated engineering tasks and there are lots of different methods available to approach to the design. The objective of this paper is to provide reader a general understanding of different tunnel support design methods and support systems. To do so, a brief introduction of the support design methods and support systems are given followed by a case study (Anderson Road Quarry tunnel) where the different support systems will be applied to verify the adequacy of the installed support design. The available geotechnical parameters of the case study will be validated upon their reliability before adopted for verification process. Based on the results, in the author’s opinion, the installed support systems are generally adequate to support the ground conditions at the tunnel alignment.
