AbstractThis study investigated the efficacy of a school-based vocal hygiene educational program “Green Voice for School” on promoting knowledge of healthy voice use in primary school students and their parents. Forty Primary Four and Five students from local primary schools and their parents participated in the “Green Voice for School” program. Students were given six training sessions on a weekly basis while parents were invited to join an educational seminar on vocal hygiene. Students showed significant overall improvement in their voice care knowledge immediately after and one year after they received training. However, there was no significant change for parents regarding their voice care knowledge, attitude, and practice. The results suggest that school-based vocal hygiene education can lead to long-term improvements in voice care knowledge in students.
