AbstractScattered throughout Ms. Fr. 640, the forty medical recipes form a small percentage of its over 900 entries. A consideration of the ailments, ingredients, and making processes described in the manuscript, as well as the author-practitioner’s process of collecting information, reveals a variety of connections between Ms. Fr. 640’s medical recipes and early modern artisanal work.
