AbstractThis paper examines selected aspects of higher education in Asia. It emphasizes the importance of urbanization in designing an ecology of higher education institutions, especially for the middle-income economies. It highlights the leading centers with strong research universities and the importance of interregional educational and academic cooperation in the greater Asian region.
