AbstractIn this chapter, we describe a transportation–location problem faced by a nonprofit organization which requires an efficient plan for distributing solar stoves to a number of African countries. The main tradeoff in this problem is between local production costs and shipping costs. Shipment consolidation to mitigate spare container capacity and location of assembly plants are also considered. Multiple models and solution techniques are discussed throughout the chapter.
