AbstractExperimental data and models for grain boundary wetting are reviewed. Two subtypes of non-Mullins liquid grooves are considered: fingers and edges. For the fingers the SIIS-model appears to be the most reasonable with some additions and with regard to faceting of liquid/solid interface. Stresses (drift effect) play the significant role in edges growth along with grain boundary selfdiffusion due to the imbalance of surface tensions. © 2001 Scitec Publications.
