Analysis of Chinese Korean Translation Strategies in Reflective Journals of Korean Language Learners in Hong Kong

Abstract

본 연구는 홍콩의 한국어 학습자들이 중한 번역 과정에서 어떤 번역 전략을 사용하는지 성찰 일지를 통해 분석하였다. 이를 위해 홍콩의 중급 한국어 학습자 20명이 중한 번역을 하며 작성한 성찰 일지 총 80편을 수집하였다. 수집된 성찰 일지를 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 학습자들은 첫째, 한국의 언어와 문화를 고려한 자국화, 중국어의 특성을 살린 이국화 전략을 사용했다. 둘째, 중국어 문장을 나누거나 순서를 바꾸어 자연스러운 한국어 문장을 구성하였다. 셋째, 온라인 사전, 기계 번역, 인터넷 자료 등 기술적 도구를 활용했다. 넷째, 번역한 텍스트를 검토하며 더 정확한 한국어 텍스트로 수정하였다. 다섯째, 교사에게 도움을 요청하거나 동료 학습자와 논의하는 사회적 전략을 사용하였다. 요컨대 홍콩의 한국어 학습자들은 학습 주체로서 번역 과정에 참여하여 다양한 번역 전략을 사용하였다. This article aims to analyze the translation strategies of Korean language learners in Hong Kong in the Chinese Korean translation process. Eighty reflective journals written by 20 intermediate Korean language learners in Hong Kong were collected for analysis. The results were as follows. First, the learners used the domestication strategy, which considered the language and culture of Korea, and the foreignization strategy, which considered the Chinese language. Second, they created natural Korean sentences by dividing or rearranging Chinese sentences. Third, they used technical tools such as online dictionaries, machine translation, and online materials. Fourth, they reviewed the translated texts and enhanced the accuracy of their use of the Korean language. Fifth, they used social strategies such as asking the lecturer for help or exchanging with other learners. Thus, Korean language learners in Hong Kong participated in the translation process as educational subjects and used various translation strategies.
