AbstractWe develop a general framework to describe non-equilibrium radiation by materials in nanophotonic structures (such as photoluminescence/cathodoluminescence/scintillation). We demonstrate the concept experimentally, enhancing and shaping cathodoluminescence from a silica photonic crystal.
