AbstractIn this paper, a methodology for improving the Leaf Area Index (LAI) product of vegetation canopy and the preliminary retrieval results by integrating Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) and Multi-angle Imaging SpectroRadiometer (MISR) data is presented. We attempt to improve the estimation of LAI through a physical inversion algorithm with a canopy reflectance model. Taking Konza Prairie experiment as example, the results suggest that this method can utilize effectively the MISR and MODIS observing information and the prior knowledge which can be obtained from the ground measuring and the sensor products.
