AbstractThis chapter summarizes the key questions and issues discussed by three review panels in the 9th International Symposium on Physical Measurements and Signatures in Remote Sensing (ISPMSRS) held in October 2005 in Beijing. The panels focused on remote sensing systems and sensors, modeling and inversion, and remote sensing applications. Some emerging issues in land remote sensing are presented, including sensor networks, modeling complex landscapes, machine learning techniques for inversion, and spatial scaling. © Springer Science + Business Media B.V., 2008.
