Abstract | Public housing is one of the most important forms of housing in Hong Kong, and residents living here generally have lower incomes. On the other hand, public transport in Hong Kong undertakes the travel activities of the vast majority of citizens. For low-income citizens, public transportation is particularly important. Therefore, it is of great practical significance to study the public transportation strategies related to public housing. In 2017, the Transport and Housing Bureau released the Public Transport Strategy Study, which discussed the roles and development of different public transport. This study is to study the overall traffic situation in Hong Kong. Similarly, few scholars have linked it to public housing when studying public transportation. This research innovatively links Hong Kong's public transport strategy with public housing, which is a shining point of this research. In this article, I select representative public housing estates to illustrate their public transport status. Afterwards, I will briefly describe the development history of public transportation in each district in relation to public housing. I use the above information to perform appropriate aggregation work. After researching the public housing as a whole, I found that the public transport strategy of public housing is generally consistent with the overall public transport strategy of Hong Kong, with differences in a few parts. After that, I summarize the historical public transportation strategy. After conducting research on different individuals in public housing, I have classified different public housing estates according to the status of public transport. In different historical periods, there are the same public transport strategies for the same type of public housing estates. This research is expected to provide valuable information and reference value for the development of public housing and public transport in Hong Kong.
