5th Int. Conference on Information Technology and Applications in Biomedicine, ITAB 2008 in conjunction with 2nd Int. Symposium and Summer School on Biomedical and Health Engineering, IS3BHE 2008, 2008, p. 457-460 How to Cite?
AbstractBone drilling interaction is an important method of reducing the over prominent bone areas of the mandibular angle in cosmetic facial contour surgeries. A new haptic bone drilling interaction model based on Impulse Theorem and Coulomb Law is proposed in this paper, and a hybrid mandible bone reduction surgery training system is also developed with visual and haptic feedbacks. Experimental results show the satisfactory performance of the proposed method in reflecting the fidelity of the touch-enabled bone drilling interaction in the real world. © 2008 IEEE.
