Abstract(Matrix presented) Lactose-appended cyclodextrin derivatives have been synthesized and threaded onto hydrophobic polymers in aqueous solution to form dynamic multivalent lactosides for binding to lectins. The threading process, which proceeds quickly, can be observed by one- and two- dimensional NMR spectroscopies.
