Abstract | As the incoming chief editor of Climate Change Ecology I thought that in addition to highlighting my vision for the journal in this first editorial, I would also take the time to review the year in terms of environmental policy, and what those policies mean for biodiversity in the light of a changing climate. In addition to studies analysing the impacts, and projected impacts of climate change on biodiversity, as well as how species and systems have responded to past climate change, we will now be including policy and management-oriented pieces to try to bridge the gap between the science, and how and where it can be implemented. We will be exploring innovative formats to discuss the best of climate-biodiversity science, and to bridge the gap between policy and implementation. We will also try to translate policy related conventions into a form that is readily accessible to scientists, including our new “year in review policy brief”, which will discuss the relationship between various global policy related events, biodiversity and climate science. |
