Abstract | China has a long history and tradition of mediation, derived from the traditional concept of valuing harmony in dispute resolution and strengthened by the social acceptance of Confucianism. Although mediation has long been regarded as a major dispute resolution method for resolving social conflicts, the development of the Chinese mediation system has not always been smooth. China has introduced a series of laws, regulations and official documents to govern mediation activities, including the People’s Mediation Law, the Civil Mediation Law, the Civil Procedure Law, the Regulation on the Organization of People’s Mediation Committees, the Labor Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Law, Opinions on Establishing Belt and Road International Commercial Dispute Settlement Mechanism and Institutions, and Provisions on the Negotiation and Mediation of Enterprise Labor Disputes. |
