Abstract | The authors of this chapter present an introductive summary of empirical research on the status of educational equity in primary and secondary education in East Asia. Its purpose is to introduce the reader to a variety of studies through conducting a critical review of the presentation of analyses of equality of opportunities for children in this region to receive a primary and secondary education. The studies reviewed here were selected from publications by international organizations and individual scholars over the past two decades. |
