Abstract

Aim: To synthesize and characterize a novel complex of baicalin with chromium(III), and study the stability of the complex. Methods: Baicalin was dissolved in 60% ethanol, and the reaction was taken under refluxing with pH 9. The complex was characterized by IR and UV spectra, as well as elemental analysis and ICP. Result: The baicalin-chromium complex was obtained with molecular formula Na2Cr(C21H16O11) 2(OH)-·10H2O and it was stable in the acidic condition. Conclusion: The baicalin-chromium complex has been firstly successfully synthesized as a promising hypoglycemic agent.
