AbstractThe photocurrent from a jellium surface irradiated with ultrashort laser pulses was studied and found to strongly depend on the absolute phase of the laser pulse. The strong variation was, in part, due to the fact that the surface breaks the inversion symmetry for laser-matter interaction.
