AbstractWe record the electric fields emitted by impulsively excited molecular vibrations as the most fundamental ensemble-averaged physical measurable of coherently oscillating microscopic electric dipoles. This background-free, time-domain detection of molecular fingerprints offers high detection sensitivities.
