AbstractWe demonstrate 200 fs pulses directly obtained from Yb:YAG thin disk oscillator. We achieved 200 fs with 17 W average power and 270 fs with 45 W at 40 MHz repetition rate with optical to optical efficiency of 25% To our knowledge these are the shortest pulses ever achieved from the mode locked Yb:YAG disk oscillator and a first demonstration of Kerr lens mode locked thin disk laser. © 2011 Optical Society of America.
