Abstract

Heart rate control by metoprolol yields better image quality for CT coronary angiograms (CTCA). When metoprolol fails to satisfactorily reduce heart rate, drug combinations can be used. The safety profile of combining metoprolol and diltiazem for CTCA is unknown but known risks include atrioventricular nodal block, bradycardia, hypotension and heart failure.
