Welcome to the world of Web 2.0. The internet is no longer just the medium for distribution of isolated informational resources. Rather, Web 2.0 paradigm introduces new models for creating services that allow global information to be reused anywhere while empowering individuals to form and join social networks where new information is created. Internet users and content creators can access information from other sites and reuse it for presentation on their own pages. Individuals can easily create their own Blogs or engage in social activity of content creation through Wikis. Web resources can be accessed and shared in a way that is tailored to individual needs while allowing communities to come together and contribute based on similarities of their interests. In this seminar the presenter will discuss basic ideas behind the Web 2.0 and showcase a number of examples developed on the basis of this paradigm. In addition, the presenter will discuss educational opportunities that this new paradigm and emerging technologies may offer. Ms Lu Jie is research assistant of China Agricultural University, Beijing, China. She specialized in Computer Science, and her research focus is on Multimedia. She has strong interest in Web2.0 and is actively involved in research exploring opportunities that this new paradigm and emerging technologies may offer. |
