AbstractIn this article, the existence of thickness-edge modes in a semi-infinite hexagonal (6 mm) magneto-electro-elastic plate is analyzed. Each surface of the plate is traction-free, but subjected to four different types of electromagnetic boundary conditions. It is found that when the two major surfaces of the plate are electrically open and magnetically closed, three types of electromagnetic boundary conditions on the minor surface of the plate allow the existence of thickness-edge modes. The frequencies of the thickness-edge modes for the three cases of the existence are given explicitly.
