Abstract | A new genus and species, Corsiopsis chinensis (Corsiaceae), is described from Guangdong province, China. Corsiopsis is an achlorophyllous mycoheterotrophic herb with structurally complex white flowers. Although there are similarities with Corsia, it is distinct since the flowers are unisexual and bear an erect bladder-like posterior sepal (labellum) that lacks any basal callus. The family has previously only been reported from South America (Arachnitis) and Australasia (Corsia); the new genus therefore represents the first record of the family from Asia and the northern hemisphere. |
