AbstractWe report a patient with obstructing cancer of the sigmoid colon initially treated with a self-expanding metallic stent. The metallic stent successfully relieved the intestinal obstruction, and laparoscopic anterior resection was performed subsequently. The use of this approach in the management of patients with obstructing colorectal cancer is discussed.
