Abstract苋属约有60多个种，其中包括栽培种、野生种或杂草种以及种间或种内的杂交组合，种质资源丰富，是生物多样性研究的好料。从50年代以来，从不同水平对苋属生物多样性进行了广泛的究，形态学水平、染色体水平、杂交分析以及蛋白质和酶水平的研究 已取得了较大的进展、80年代初发展起来的DNA分子标记技术为苋属生物多样性研究开辟了一条崭新的道路，为苋属生物多样性的合理利用提供了大量的信息和依据。本文着重讨论了苋属生物多样性的研究进展。
